"The new center offered me so many things that I did not know existed before. The environment itself is amazing and provides a comfortable atmosphere to learn in. The staff is even better, whether it's scheduling n appointment, attending a workshop, or one on one help, they are so willing to help. The whole experience of coming to the center has helped me greatly. I wish I had realized what a fantastic resource the center was sooner."
The Julia N. Visor Center supports the University College mission by helping students learn how to learn, as well as helping to increase knowledge of course content and strengthen writing skills.
The Center helps each student identify personal strengths and discover individualized learning strategies while being actively involved in their own learning. Our Center is staffed by undergraduate students, graduate students and professionals. We provide many forms of assistance including one-on-one tutoring, small group tutoring and study skills workshops.
The Julia N. Visor Academic Center also provides academic support services for minority undergraduates in a supportive environment and to assist with their academic goals, needs, and concerns. The center functions to enhance the academic success and retention of minority undergraduates at Illinois State University by offering academic reinforcement in a designated location. The Center works collaboratively with various campus units to provide an array of inter-connected, coordinated academic support programs and services in a supportive, comfortable environment that is welcoming to all students enrolled at the University.
