Advisor on Call

We understand that academic questions and concerns arise at various times during students' academic careers. For instance, sometimes you are declared as having one major, but you wonder what it would take to change to another.

An "advisor on call" is available in University College Academic Advisement during the following hours:

  • Monday - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday - 9:00 a.m. to Noon
  • Wednesday - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday - 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Who is my advisor?

Advising at Illinois State is designed to meet the needs of students at the various points of their academic career.  To achieve this, we have different advisors for different groups of students.

University College Academic Advisement
(students with less than 24 hours or undeclared students)

If you have fewer than 24 credit hours or if you are undeclared in your major, you are advised in  University College. To find out who your University College advisor is, please call (309) 438-7604.
First year students’ advisors may have changed since Preview. Our goal is to provide you an advisor familiar with your area of study.  If your advisor has changed you should have received an e-mail from your new advisor with contact information. 
If you are a student with fewer than 24 credit hours or an Undeclared Student with more than 24 credit hours and you do not know your advisor, please contact University College Academic Advisement at (309) 438-7604.

Students in a Major (24 or more earned hours)

If you have 24 or more earned hours and are currently in a declared major, you are advised by your major school or department.  To find out who your assigned advisor is, view the complete list.

Honors Students, Student Athletes, TRiO/Student Support Services Participants

Honors students are advised by the Honors Program or their department/school advisor depending on their year in school. 

All students enrolled in Student Support Services are advised both by a TRiO/SSS advisors as well as by their department or school.

All varsity student-athletes are advised by the Athletic Advisors in University College when they have fewer than 24 hours.  After they have earned 24 hours and have a declared major, they are advised by both departmental/school advisors and the University College Athletic Advisors to ensure satisfactory progress in accordance to NCAA rules.
