What do students have to say about Developmental Math?

Calculator & Textbook Resources

Calculator Resources:

Do I need to use a graphing calculator for my math courses?

To see if your course requires a graphing calculator, check the syllabus for that course. Many math courses have homepages with this information.

Which graphing calculator should I buy?

If you will be buying a graphing calculator, we recommend the TI-83 or TI-83 Plus. These have the most widespread use and support on campus so help is easier to find. Our math tutors and GA’s are available to assist you with these models.

Some hints and tips concerning calculators:

  • For security purposes, always place some form of identification on your calculator.
  • Calculators are available in the math lab and may be checked out for student use in the Developmental Math Lab only.

Textbook Resources:

Do I need to buy the textbook for my math course?

You should always purchase the required text. However, Developmental Math has one (1) copy of each textbook for math 102 and 104 that may be checked out to use as a reference in the math lab only.

Can I buy an older version of the required text?

Because of the availability of older version online at cheaper prices, many students ask this question. But with each new version, changes are made to the topics presented, section numbers, homework problems, etc. It would be very difficult and very confusing to follow your instructor's course outline if you have a different version of the text.
