Offered through the Dean of Students Office, the Passages program is the second phase of your orientation experience. You will experience exciting and useful activities and events to begin an academic journey in college life.
Specifically, Passages will help you engage in academic life, develop social connections, and become a member of our community. The journey begins with residence hall move-in on the Thursday prior to the start of the fall term and is mandatory for all freshmen.
University College is here to help make your transition to Illinois State University as successful as possible.
During the two-day Preview program in the summer, new freshmen receive academic orientation, meet with academic advisors, and register for fall semester classes. There are also opportunities for new freshmen and their family members to discuss issues of campus life with faculty, staff, and current students. Freshmen admitted for fall semester receive registration materials for Preview in late spring.
Our one-day Transfer Day Program incoming transfer students to meet with their academic advisor, register for classes, obtain a Redbird Card (student ID) and experience some of the other services available to Illinois State students. Several Transfer Days are held each term–generally three days are scheduled in the fall for those admitted for the spring term and four days are scheduled in the spring for those admitted for the summer and/or fall terms.
