Receptionist Job Description

The receptionist is the initial contact person for students, staff, and all visitors contacting the University Center for Learning Assistance (UCLA). It is the responsibility of the receptionist to provide professional, courteous, and effective service.  Receptionists interact with all UCLA staff members, students utilizing the UCLA, and the campus community.

The receptionist welcomes all who contact the UCLA, assists the client in determining the appropriate UCLA service, schedules appointments with tutors, and registers students for workshops. Other duties include, but are not limited to, copying, filing, updating bulletin boards, and general monitoring of the appearance of the UCLA.

Basic knowledge of computer keyboarding and filing is required, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills and effective decision-making capability.  Applicants must be current Illinois State University students, dependable, outgoing, and personable, with a strong desire to work in a service-oriented capacity.  The ability and desire to perform verbal and written interaction with students, staff members, and the campus community are also required.
